President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Our Community Invites You to Visit St. Clair County
In an article from the January 18, 2009 Port Huron Times Herald newspaper, columnist and author Mike Connell wrote: “St. Clair County dates to 1820, or 17 years before Michigan became a state. We are bearing down on our bicentennial, and yet we've had no occasion to lip sync ‘Hail to the Chief.’” The catalyst for the development of this Authorship topic is that no sitting President has ever visited St. Clair County.
Who:
The first 60 individuals (local or national) who would like to participate in the Authorship Series inviting President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to visit St. Clair County; e.g. business leaders, educators, students, politicians, non-profits, faith-based groups, organized labor, foundations.
What:
The President Obama book is the first in our Authorship Series. Become a community leader of citizens tackling pressing problems facing our community and nation. In 2009, UNeedUs will be facilitating a number of hands-on, interactive workshops. You and other participants will author a plan detailing collaborative and innovative solutions to address pressing issues facing all of us. Each participant will receive a hardbound “book” of the combined output from all three sessions. Check our website for other Authorship Series topics which are offered as public or private sessions around the nation.
Why:
Be a participant in the first-of-its-kind opportunity to author a “book” on the reasons why a sitting President should visit St. Clair County. Following the session, the book will be delivered to the White House.
